Gassen Legacy Golf Club, formally known as Gassen Lake, has been a popular Chiang Mai golf course for some time but was closed in 2013 for renovations and reopened and renamed in 2014, redesigned by the popular golf courses architects and US design firm, Schmidt-Curley. With new drainage, turf, and greenside hazards, the course’s upgrade has provided a touch of class at the club.
This very challenging course is now one of the best courses in the Chiang Mai region and has a 72-par and is set over 5,967 yards from the white tees. The courses enjoys gently rolling fairways, mature trees and lots of water hazards, making it a challenging experience for all golfers, but one that will stick out in the memory.
The course has 5x par-3 holes and also 5x par-5 holes, giving the course lots of balance and opportunities to make up shots. Those of you who are big-hitters can take solace in the fact that the course has some drivable par-4s and a few risk-reward par-5s as well.
The onsite clubhouse offers drinks and snacks, although the amenities are bit more Spartan.
